The CBS affiliate Channel 2 in Los Angeles confirmed reports that Hervey Medellin, the dismembered murder victim whose body parts were found in the Hollywood Hills last week, was gay.

The 66-year old Medellin was a former employee of Mexican airlines. His severed head was found in a park by a pair of dog walkers last Tuesday. Later, his hands and feet were found nearby, which ultimately led to his identification.

Channel 2 reporter Kirk Hawkins reported from outside the victim's apartment complex.
"Neighbors say Medellin lived with his boyfriend and his dog in a Hollywood apartment complex," he reported. "The LAPD spent hours collecting evidence here over the weekend. Investigators are now looking in Medellin's latest relationship and his past marriage to a woman."

A female reporter attempted to talk to the victim's roommate. "It's kind of hard for me right now. Can you respect that?" the roommate lamented as the reporter and a camera crew stood outside the victim's apartment door. A print report on the CBS2 website added the following information:

"Police would not disclose what evidence was collected although several large bags could be seen being removed from the location.

"Investigators say they are now looking into Medellin's current relationship with his boyfriend and a past marriage to a woman.

"'It's crazy, it's creepy . . . just to think I'm living under a guy that got murdered,' said neighbor Nicholas Hadgiantonas."
