Pop Ups :: Fashionistas

Jason St. Amand READ TIME: 4 MIN.

Celebrties are known for their outlandish fashion and personal style. No, don't worry, no one is wearing a swan dress or shaved their hair off... completely.

In this edition of Pop Ups we look at the style choices of some of the media's most-talked about actors and musicians.

Emmy nom Lena Dunham emulates Miley Cyrus. Lady Gaga cuts her hair in honor of a dead friend's mother; and Chris Brown and Rihanna both get inked.

Lena Dunham Pulls a Miley

In mid August, country and Disney superstar Miley Cyrus made headlines for chopping her hair and dying it platinum blonde. But it looks like rising actress Lena Dunham is following suit as she too is now sporting a pixie do (and kind of looking like Michael Cera).

Dunham showed off her new hairstyle during a wrap party for season two of her hit HBO TV series "Girls." She was also wearing a sweater that read "I'm with her" with an arrow pointing to the left.

"I Miley'd the shit out of this Saturday," she wrote along with a photo of herself, the New York Daily News reported. When the comedian spoke with Fashionista.com, she explained she wanted to do something "radical" once the show's second season ended.

"I finished shooting and I just had this moment where I thought that I could be... You know you always sort of dream you could be that girl who makes that radical choice, and (then you) look at your reflection on the subway and be like, 'I kind of look like a boy. Whatever, it's cool,'" she said.

"So, I am embarrassed to say because it sounds so trite, but I looked at a picture of Carey Mulligan and then just went for it, but no one is doing it better than her so why not?" Dunham added.

Lady Gaga Takes Miley Haircut to the Extreme

By now, most of us aren't surprised with Lady Gaga's style antics as we've seen her wear everything from meat to Kermit the Frog. This time, however, the pop icon has shaved the back of her head to honor celebrity photographer Terry Richardson's mother, who recently died.

"I did it for u Terry," Gaga wrote on her website LittleMonsters.com. "I'm sorry about ure mommy. She has princess die, but were all princess high."

Richardson, who has worked with Gaga for years and has released a number of candied photos of the singer, announced on Tuesday that his mother, Annie Lomax, passed away, the Los Angeles Times reports.

Rihanna and Chris Brown Get Terrible Tattoos

It seems Rihanna and her former boyfriend Chris Brown have more in common than tumultuous relationships: both pop singers have a passion for awful tattoos. Rihanna, who also recently got Miley'd, posted a photo on her Instigram and Twitter account of her newest ink -- an Egyptian goddess, the Daily News points out. And where did she get it? Right under her breasts on her midsection. Yikes!

"Goddess Isis - Complete Woman - Model for future generations - #GRANGRANDOLLY," she tweeted last weekend. "Always in and on my heart."

But somehow, Brown was able to top the "We Found Love" singer's new ink with a tattoo of a battered woman on his neck. Art imitating life?

Some media outlets are noting the similarities between the gruesome ink and Rihanna's face.

"The black-and-white image shows a woman whose bone structure, arched eyebrows and full lips bear a striking similarity to Brown's onetime girlfriend Rihanna, but the tattoo version bears the scars of a serious beating," the Daily News article reads.

That tattoo also shows the mystery woman with stitches on her lip and a black eye.

"His tattoo is a sugar skull (associated with the Mexican celebration of the Day of the Dead) and a MAC cosmetics design he saw," a rep for Brown told ABCNews.com. "It is not Rihanna or an abused woman as erroneously reported."
