Trump's Religious Freedom Executive Order Makes Anti-LGBT Group Want More Money

Anyone who had a question about whether President Trump's honeymoon is over with the National Organization for Marriage (NOM) need only look at Tuesday's money grab email from the increasingly insignificant anti-LGBT "traditional marriage" group.

Angered by last week's religious liberty executive order from the White House, which failed to include language allowing for anti-LGBT discrimination in the name of religious liberty, NOM president Brian Brown blasted President Trump.

"President Trump has so far failed to deliver on his repeated promises to do everything in his power to protect the religious liberty of people of faith and faith-based groups," Brown wrote. "The Executive Order he signed last week was empty of any meaningful protections when it comes to those who have been targeted by the government for their beliefs about marriage, gender and human sexuality."

This is the second time that President Trump has backed away from signing a comprehensive order protecting religious liberty and the pattern shows that we have to put the heat on him and his administration to prevent LGBT extremist groups from stopping progress on our issues," Brown continued.

Brown is never one to send an email just to say "Hi." His cash-strapped organization has its annual March for Marriage scheduled in June. The event, which drew less than 300 participants last year, costs money that his organization is desperately trying to raise.

"Will you make an immediate financial contribution today to help us ramp up pressure on President Trump and the Department of Justice to do what he swore he would do - protect the religious liberty of people of faith?" Brown appealed. He promised an aggressive plan that involves "videos and pamphlets."
