Has it really been 20 years since one of the biggest films of 2012, Sister Act, came out? The answer is yes but taking a look at the 3-disc combo pack Sister Act: 20th Anniversary Edition - 2 Movie Collection, time has certainly not been kind to the Whoopi Goldberg farce.

The film that grossed close to $140 million, "Sister Act" has some mild laughs, as Goldberg disguises herself as a nun to hide from the mob. Her lounge singer background enables her lead the nun’s choir group into a hit musical act, much to the chagrin of Mother Superior (a hilariously uptight Maggie Smith). Kathy Najimy steals the movie as Sister Mary Patrick with her bubbly and ditzy performance.

Sister Act 2: Back in the Habit is included on the Blu-ray as well and returns most of the performers. It falls flat with a weak story and lukewarm jokes. Here, Goldberg is asked to return to the habit at an inner city school. Najimy gets a few decent one-liners, while Smith is sorely underused.

A blurb on the Blu-ray calls the 2 film’s digital restorations "stunning", yet this average transfer looks slightly better than a DVD copy. There’s a small feature called "Inside Sister Act" and 2 music videos for the songs "If My Sister’s in Trouble" and "I Will Follow Him."
