Little Britain USA
Little Britain took our overseas cousin by storm a few years back when comedians Matt Lucas and David Walliams introduced an arsenal of insane (but memorable) characters. The duo cleverly play each member of this group of misfits with a wide array of different hair pieces, fake teeth, fat suits, fake noses, accents and costumes. Little Britain USA tries to replicate the show for HBO’s American audience. While not a huge success or as fantastic as its BBC counterpart, this series is a must-have for every Little Britain fan, but also fun for viewers who just don’t "get" British humor. True, many of these accents are hard to understand if you’re not used to them, but there’s a universal humor at the bases of this timelessly funny series.
This time around, we find some of the original characters have made their way across the pond to the USA. Chain-smoking, trash-talking teenager Vickie Pollard is on her way to a juvenile detention center. Andy and Lou are on vacation. Davyth is studying at a diverse American university but still labels himself "the only gay in the village."
To better relate with HBO audiences, there are some new American characters. There’s Bing Gordon, who holds the coveted record as eighth man on the moon (and won’t let you forget it). Mark and Tom are two steroid-ridden gym buddies (not quite bunnies) whose locker room guy talk provides some of the funniest -- and most uncomfortable -- moments of this series. In addition to new prosthetic muscle suits used on these characters, the creators pushed the boundaries with some new prosthetic "members" that you have to see to believe.
Little Britain USA is offensive, crude, acerbic. And it’s so funny that I watch it any other way.
Bonus Features include a great "making of" along with audio commentary by Lucas and Walliams on all six episodes, plus some deleted scenes and a blooper reel.
