President Obama is the latest high profile figure to participate in the "It Gets Better" project.

In a video posted to the White House’s You Tube channel late on Thursday, Oct. 21, President Obama speaks out against anti-LGBT bullying.

Sex columnist Dan Savage launched the "It Gets Better" project a month ago as a way to raise awareness of anti-LGBT bullying and homophobia.

Rutgers University student Tyler Clementi’s suicides and the deaths of other LGBT students have underscored the problem. And Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, talk show host Ellen DeGeneres and Chris Colfer of "Glee" are among those who have recorded videos for the project.

Based in Washington, D.C., Michael K. Lavers has appeared in the New York Times, BBC, WNYC, Huffington Post, Village Voice, Advocate and other mainstream and LGBT media outlets. He is an unapologetic political junkie who thoroughly enjoys living inside the Beltway.

Choosing to do no more than any run-of-the-mill left-leaning politician and to play politics with DADT and DOMA, it makes me just a little mad that he has the nerve to pose as someone who cares. I am bitterly angry that I voted for this guy. Here he offers more hollow, but pretty words.

I also am uncomfortable with this. He’s getting in the way of making it better - anyway - doesn’t the ’it get’s better’ message really make most sense coming from adult lgbt people? How would he know? If he still thinks his union should be called marriage but the rest of us aren’t good enough for that word I’m not sure he’s in a position to tell kids it gets better. He could say, ’it get’s a little better but don’t expect too much or get all uppity and proud or anything because don’t forget - who you are really is fundamentally different and deserving of different treatment than who I am. Oh - and hang in there patriotic soldiers who I could have stopped from getting fired by not appealing this ruling - I want to stop you getting fired this way instead of that way.’ Who gives a shit how as long as it’s stopped! Maybe he could contribute to the anti-bullying message for everyone else but the words are hollow spoken to lgbt kids coming from him.
