"This is a major turning point in the history of American civil rights. No American president has ever supported a major expansion of civil rights that has not ultimately been adopted by the American people." - New York Mayor Michael R. Bloomberg.

"That the president has chosen today, when LGBT Americans are mourning the passage of Amendment 1 (North Carolina’s ballot initiative banning same-sex marriage and civil unions), to finally speak up for marriage equality is offensive and callous." - R. Clarke Cooper, executive director, Log Cabin Republicans.

"Today marks progress for the civil rights of LGBT Americans and all Americans. With President Obama’s support, we look forward to the day when all American families are treated equally in the eyes of the law." - House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi, D-Calif.

"While President Obama has played politics on this issue, the Republican Party and our presumptive nominee Mitt Romney have been clear. We support maintaining marriage between one man and one woman and would oppose any attempts to change that." - Republican National Committee Chairman Reince Priebus.

"It is heartening to know the president stands with our families in the pursuit of full equality, economic security and justice." - Rea Carey, executive director, National Gay and Lesbian Task Force.

"In Maryland, we agree. Ultimately, we all want the same thing for our children: to live in a loving, stable, committed home protected equally under the law." - Democratic Gov. Martin O’Malley of Maryland.

"The announcement today by President Obama should come as no surprise to the American public. President Obama has consistently fought against protecting the institution of marriage from radical social engineering at both the state and federal level." - Former Republican presidential candidate Rick Santorum.

"President Obama’s support for marriage equality marks an important moment for civil rights in America. We simply cannot treat same-sex couples as second-class citizens in our country. Marriage equality is one of the most significant civil rights battles of our time and is critical to guaranteeing the equal protection under the law promised to every American in the Constitution." - Sen. Frank R. Lautenberg, D-N.J.

"What the president has done is erase the deficit of enthusiasm among social conservatives for Mitt Romney. Now there’s a concern about a second term for Barack Obama and what it would mean on the fundamental issue of marriage." - Tony Perkins, president, the Family Research Council.

"The president’s statement is a milestone and so important for the millions of American families who deserve full equality. None of us can rest until marriage equality is a reality for all Americans." - Sen. Barbara Boxer, D-Calif.

"President Obama’s announcement today is not surprising. He is trying to shore up his liberal base in an election year. ... I believe marriage is between a man and a woman. Traditional marriage is a long-standing, common-sense American value that is the backbone of our society, and it is worth defending." - Sen. Jim Inhofe, R-Okla.

"Thirty years from now we’ll look back on this moment as monumental. ... He broke political barriers and essentially said discrimination against loving and committed same-sex couples is wrong." - Jim Dean, chair, Democracy for America.

"In talking with my children and grandchildren, it has become clear to me they take marriage equality as a given. I have no doubt that their view will carry the future." - Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid, D-Nev.

After listening to CNN  and reading articles today , thinking back on situations ..I have chosen to give my two cents . I truly in the year 2012 do not understand the concerns of legalized same sex marriage or any of the negativity of  the gay lifestyle :   I worry and see so many more devastating concerns for this  country and world that our focus needs to tend to . Not who loves who . At this day and age .. What gives anyone the right to deprive any couple of love , happiness or a family to raise and love .  We all were created equal , one is not better then the other , imagine how boring a world if we all liked the same things .. If everyones thoughts were the same , if  we all were attracted to the same traits in a man or women .  If we all liked the same sports team, same food , same state to live in , same shoes etc . There would be  a definite lack of attraction , excitement , fulfillment .  Who would need relationships , marriage , passion, ..we all would basically be the same . BORING !  My friends~.  . Being different , liking different things , people being attracted to and loving different  types is what makes this world. Exciting , fun , interesting . Challenging . What does it really matter that a woman loves a man , or woman loves a women ,  A  white woman loves a black man , or a Cat loves a dog .  We are doing exactly as Jesus said         Jesus said.  "I give you a new commandment, love one another; just as I have loved you,  you also must love one another."  and it means a sacrificial, unconditional, and possibly unreciprocated love. A love that no matter what someone has done or not done, no matter how we feel or don’t feel, whether we want to or not - we are to love one another as Jesus has loved us! I know gay couples whom have children and show such exuberance and  genuine love unconditionally .Some people feel children of gay couples will damage the children . So very wrong , how can genuine love damage anyone .  Sorry but, gay isn’t a disease .. You can’t catch it , it is not learned behavior . It is not forced upon .  Nor is it turned off or on like a switch , it is not chosen .... There are several people who are attracted to same sex , who are too proud to admit , who short themselves of true love and completeness , who live a life of  absence of satisfaction  Or who are afraid to be themselves for fear of rejection ,  again that  reverts back to the New Commandment Jesus gave  " unconditional love "  . Imagine how surprised we would all be if everyone who is gay , had gay tendencies , thought of same sex in a sexual way or want to be openly gay would turn blue for one day . Imagine .  Which leads to ... be careful who you  dis or put down , just because you never know ,who  you know  just might be gay , especially these parents that have children  . Parents that are bad mouthing gays ... Some day those parents may eat their words . When they have to choose loving their child unconditionally or disowning them for life  finding out their child , the child they produced and raised is..... Gay.  I believe the ones who vocalize the most against gays are ones who have issues with in themselves on being who they really want to be , to not be too proud to follow their heart . Angry and  bitter .     I know so many that realized at a very young age they were attracted to  the same sex . Being raised by heterosexual parents as well . How are you influenced or learn a gay behavior at grade school level  .?  Some  think this is unnatural affection between two males or two females..That  It is against Nature .  Well my friends not all heterosexual couples want children , nor gay couples ,  We were not put on this earth to just be mating machines and produce litters  of children .  And yes it is very unfortunate for gay couples who truly love each other and have an abundance of love to give , can not  physically produce children .  But they can adopt or artificial inseminate .  A family is a family built of love . What does it matter what builds that loving family  gays straights , blacks , whites,  midgets , ducks or birds .  I hope for everyone on this earth to experience " True Love " unconditionally  one that transforms your life and satisfies you in every cell of your being.  I’m talking about deep, genuine love that’s passionate and filled with conscious communication and creative contribution-the kind that keeps getting more joyful every single day . Don’t be too proud  to open your heart to where it wants to lead .  I hope  for everyone to experience true love ! Unconditional love .   I was fortunate to experience it years ago  ... Nothing will ever compare .. Or replace that beautiful feeling .  Unfortunately I never found it since .  But still hold that love within my heart , assuming till the day I die .  Life is too short  , love your neighbor , coworker , relative , child regardless of who they care passionately for or choose to love and co habitate.  with . Love those around you .. Unconditionally. ..who are you to judge !  As I started this , I will end .  There is so much more to worry about and be concerned about to put our energy towards ,  Gays and gay marriage is the least of this country’s worries .  Let’s concentrate on producing jobs , poverty ,  stopping terrorist , murders , inflation , depression ,housing market , cancer , diabetes , obesity . Drug trafficking , health care , mfg outsourcing ,  I don’ t even watch the  news or read .. Too devastating and  pathetic .  Peace and love to all ... As Jesus said . Lmd>3
